What Accesories Should I Get First

In order what should I get for my MPC1000

Unofficial UPGRADE, 128 RAM, Turntable, MPC Tutorial

you need a turntable right now

for the time being id pick one up from a thrift store but make sure it works!

well id say a turntable shold come later...cus i still have the basic 16MB..which is so small whats the point in buying a turntable if i dont have the freedom to do exactly what i want.

I think i should get the ram and the upgrade. Is this a good idea?

While 16 MB is somewhat limiting, it's still something like 138 seconds of sample time. If you work creativly you can make some really really dope tracks with that much sample time. I'm assuming you plan on chopping samples from records, so without a turntable you can't even do that. I would agree with aertime and say that a turntable should come first.

If it's a MPC, then the memory affects more than sample time... 16 Levels and Pad Bank storage will be affected. Once you get into producing a song, I'm almost positive that memory is gonna because an issue... Unless you're not worried about doing whole tracks right now and you just wanna learn how to use the equipment.......

The OS update is a personal decision... Do what works for you...

If you wanna sample wax, then get a turntable....... and probably a mixer too...

You pretty much just broke your own question down. Now go from there. If u know the TT should come last and the ram upgrade first then do it that way. Sometimes its better to do something through Trial and Error instead of waiting around on others.

any turntable will work even a 40 year old belt drive one from a thrift shop. If you crave more freedom then get the RAM simple.

Depends on your style of production. I use the sp1200 wich is limited to 10secs of sample time and a maximum of 2.5 on each pad (max of 4 pads).
Beeing limited made me change my style (for the good i think) it made me sample small.

well i think i should get the 128 RAM cus I was puttin some samples in...and i didnt have enoff memory and that was really anoying. I wanna get a turntable...but im still a newb and im just sampling wavs that other producers have already used for practice. Id rather work on being able to actually sample and with enuff room itll let me work freely

with the JJ OS upgrade im gonna need that cus with the default one u cant chop in stereo cus mines wont let me and the NEW JJ OS will so thats what im gonna go with

well i kinda have an idea...i dont wanna be makin some dope sh!t and find out that i have no space to get goin. I like to be prepared when im makin a beat and have most everything i need and the basics like the 128 MB

i would get the ram first imo. You don't need anything tho. Just master that 1000.

yeah i say go for TT last, especially if you don't already own vinyl.

I sample off vinyl. but lately, I've found MP3's to be a gold mine of samples. I know, some cats feel if you're not sampling off vinyl it aint true to hip hop. but whatever. Some samples are hard to find on vinyl, sometimes the only way to get other samples is by vinyl only. why limit yourself?

If you're just starting out and want to save money look through your mp3's and just chop that up. I use soundforge to break it down to smaller managable pieces before i ship it to the mpc1000 via usb. i chop it down further in the mpc and flip it.
