OK,

So I still have the original OS on my MPC from like 2 years ago. I just downloaded this 4.4 OS. Should I install it? I am just worried how to do it correctly, and if I'm going to lose anything or see some crazy changes, that when I load all my old sequences and programs, they may not work...

Or am I just being paranoid...?

I can't find instructions on how to install the new OS.

I know I have to copy a file to the memory card and basically put it in the MPC, but there's got to be more to it...

Shouldn't lose any of your sequences or programs, but you should back those up on another drive outside the mpc, anyway...

To update your mpc: When turning on, hold down the window button, some different info will flash on the screen and eventually come up asking you if you want to install the new os which should be on your flash card, you hit the rec button, and it will install for ya....

edit: With all that said, though, try 3.06 first, you can save stuff there and get a general feel of the layout. Then decide if you wanna shell out 30 bucks so you can get all the greatness of the JJ 4.x series and save stuff...

you do need to back up your stuff. cause its highly recommended that you reformat your drive once you change to the new os.
