The backlights for the s3000/s1000 will work with the mpc3000.

I'm not sure if my backlight is working - should it be bright?

Yes the backlight should be clear & bright if it's in a healthy condition.

Obviously you have to check the baclight in a dimly lit room to know the
exact brightness.

I bought a brand new MPC3000LE and I found the backlight was not as bright as I was expecting it to be.

It is readable, but not very bright.

Same with mine Simon.

The MPC3000LE screen polarizer is reversed to do the White Writing on Dark Background.

The standard backlight fitted within the machine isn't strong enough to shine brightly through the inverted polarizer.

Hence the dull look.

Wow, I did'nt know that!

Any pictures on how a 3000LE screen should look like with the right working backlight?

My LE has white letters on a dark blue background, but I thought that was just the way the display was, bacause its the same way when the backlight is off and on (only with less light/brightness of course).

Will the colours really be inverted (dark text on bright background) if i get a new backlight?

no dude, he's saying that's the way they were made. a new backlight will just shine brighter and help you read it mo' better.

a new backlight will not make your backlight, an MPC 60 MK1 backlight...haha, just joking. the 60 backlight is much better though...the 60.2's is ehhh
