PC2MPC Tools like Blue Box suck generally - You know why? coz you lose the touch - the physical touch to the sample itself, which you will get when you hit pad. I've been doing beats for ten years now - more than nine of them on computers. Name a Program - I used it: ProTracker, Drumstation, Fruityloops, ReCycle, Reason..blablabla.
Bought an MPC in last april. It changed the whole way i listen to music, the way i analyze it and the way i sample and cut. I even had blue box installed, combined it with ReCycle. Only used it once to create a personal drum kit with it...and in the end almost ever drum I selected sounded whack when it came to programmin' because I was missing THE TOUCH from the very beginning. I mean the only thing this tool does is trying to save you time when it comes to spreading a large set of samples over all four banks... But in the end it doesn't because you gotta go from drum to drum to find a fitting one. Also, I don't have fun with browsing samples in my PC at all because the pre-listening function in BlueBox is end-whack. So why go virtual when you can touch it? Yes I know, to some extend a sax sample on a drumpad is some kind of virtual too....but you knowwhutimtryinnasaydoyou?
The only reasonable alternative for me would be one, where you can control bluebox via the pads itself which won't be possible since the 1000 is a USB-Slave-only device.
Sorry for bothering
peace.
