Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

when i load up my old programs, for some reason, i'm getting a crackling/static sound when i push the pads. i tried a couple different disks, same problem. could this just be my OS or is it the MPC internally? anyone else have this problem before?

i cringe at the thought of having to take this back to a service center again.

Sometimes I get a crackling sound in my sounds when I leave the MPC on. I think my problem would come from the memory not being to exact specification as this is the only solution I've heard that seems possible. When I reset the MPC and reloaded them they were fine, so I knew it wasn't the actual files.

Probably want to test the files in a computer (if they are wavs) otherwise maybe in another MPC to be sure that the problem is not with the actual files. Prob not the OS, but never hurts to load the latest. Might wanna check the ram. If you have the 32 installed, you can take it out and test against the internal 2 to see if it works then.

don't touch the pads or midi controller while loading.

the wires (audio) might need to be replaced

check your simms homie, I had a crackling noise when i first installed my 32mb chips, they were bad, so I replaced them and now no problems, if they get exposed to static electricity they go bad, and when you load a program and play a sound it has a harsh loud crackle to it that isn't in the sample... check the memory cause that might be the culprit

alright, thanks. i'll try those out.

i have a regular mpc 2k, not an xl... so i don't know if i'm gonna be able to get inside to check the memory.

i did leave the mpc on for a long time before this started happening but... i'll try again tomorrow. we'll see what happens.

Anyone have suggestions to this?

Forgive me, I know this is an old thread but I am also having problems like this with no answers to my specific dilemma.

I just bought an MPC 2000 Classic and there is no crackle or scratching noise in the sample until it is in a program. The thing is, I'm using the 2MB internal memory, I took out the 2x16MB that was in the MPC when I got it.
Thanks.
