Using the MPC1000 as a sound module with a keyboard?

Question from an MPC newbie please help help help!

Okay, so far I've been able to find out that it is indeed possible to do this by assigning samples to the full 4 banks of 16 pads, which gives you a total of 64 sounds assigned to notes.

Now, the questions are:

Does this procedure have a name?

Do these programs have a name?

Do people sell, say, multisampled instruments which you can play from a midi keyboard off your MPC?

Is there an application I can use to do this on my computer?

Does the JJ OS have anythign to do with this?

If so what are these called?

I'd love to be able to buy/make programs which I can play using my midi keyboard controller in a more typical music-composition way.... kind of like using the MPC1000 as a sound module!

thanks... Okay, so I guess what I'm talking about is called multi-sampling.

I don't see a "loop" feature where you can loop a sample at a specific point while something like a sustain pedal is pressed... this is some harsh limitation.

You mean like on a multi-sampled set where there will sometimes be a sample that plays from the beginning and then has a separate loop point of some later section of the sample right? So that theres 3 points in the whole sample - {beginning > loop start > end/loop end} - and it makes a continuous seamless loop?

I haven't been able to get them to play that way in my MPC but I'm not positive if it's impossible. If it is not currently possible how realistically do you think it could be implemented into JJ?

I have no clue how realistic it could be implemented, but that would be awsome! I mean, I still don't understand why the MPC1000 doesn't support this, I guess it's just the whole marketing thing where they just want to include functions that appeal to a specific group of people (people who work with samples and not multi-samples). I guess you can't have you cake and eat it! mpc1000 is still pretty cool though.


What do you guys think of the RS7000?

sooo yeah... found out that's already a feature - and probably has been for who knows how long

oh really? I guess I gotta get in there a little more and figure it out. I just don't remember seeing it in the bluebox software to edit programs.
