Hey SPARQ, I've watched the vid a couple of times.....and I'm still not to clear on the midi connections you made. I have a 1000, and a AXIOM25. Can the AXIOM be used as a midi interface or will I need something else?..So far you went USB from Oxygen to PC, Midi out from Oxygen to Midi in of 1000. Where are the Midi outs of the 1000 going, to the midi in of the oxygen?????? and are you using both of the 1000's midi outs?

just another quick question

i have my midi keyboard going into my mpc then into reason, using the mpc for sampling and reason as a sound module. now i am trying to track everything out to Cubase SX 2, however i can't seem to figure out how to rewire the channels correctly. I have tried searching and looking in the manuals, however, i can't seem to get it to work still.

Not sure if anyone answered your question. Here goes...

Open Cubase first & then Reason. So you are slaving Reason to Cubase in a sense. You will then be able to route the audio coming out of Reason into an audio channel of Cubase. If you want to seperate your tracks, then mute what you don't want to record in Reason and do one at a time into an audio channel in Cubase. They will be in sync.

Use your audio card to get MPC recorded. If you can MIDI the MPC too, then this will help in terms of latency. Some audio cards have both MIDI and audio. Refer to your manual to see about Latency.

I hope that helps.

How do you get audio from reason to cubase? Ive searched everywhere and cant find a way to track my mpc sequenced reason ish to cubase. I

i think you have to route your device (nn 19, nnxt etc) audio out to the audio inputs of the midi device section at the top of the reason screen. you have to toggle the rack to the back and drag and drop the wires..

then when you rewire reason in cubase, just activate the reason audio channels you want to record into cubase...

i think thats how you do it, not 100% sure tho... give it a try..

The problem here is the rewire tracks dont record audio. They just show that you are getting audio in from reason, but you cant actually record reason like you would an external instument you would just plug into your interface. I thought you might be able to send the audio from the rewire channel to an audio track but no dice as of yet. Ive found that if you add a midi track and are using the reason rack for just one instrument the data recorded on the midi track works fine. However, when using multiple instruments in reason and controlling them with different midi channels on different tracks in the mp the midi data being sent to cubase ends up bring the same for each track. This makes each instrument play the same notes instead of their seperate sequnced part making a sound mash. Sorry if this sounds confusing but obviously I am confused. Nobody has seemed to post a definitive way of tracking the mpc reason combo into a program such as cubase or pro tools. Maybe this actually just isnt possible due to the limitations of how you send audio from reason to cubase.

Ok i have watched this video over and over and still can figure out how to use reason 3.0 as a sound module.

Here is my setup:

I run a USB cable from my M-audio49 to my Labtop. I also use my Tascam US-144 soundcard connected into my Labtop Via USB.
I take the Midi Out of the Midi Controller and i plug that into MIDI IN on my Soundcard. Then i take the Midi In of the MPC and go to the MIDI OUT on the soundcard. I setup up reason the way it shows in the video and Nothing works. I see the signal coming in threw my soundcard but no sound???? Any help is Appreciated...
Thanks,
Wes

Watch Sparq's video and do everything he shows you with the MPC and Reason. Basically this will allow you to do two things:
1. Make use of the MPC's sequencer
2. Use Reason for sounds

Now, to record and mixdown all these sounds together, you must make use of Rewire which will link Reason and Cubase together.

1. Always open Cubase first
1A. Click Devices -> Reason
1B. Click the Reason channels you want to open (1,2,3,4,5 ...64, etc.)

2. Open up Reason
2A. Create some devices (nn19 samplers, redrums whatever)
2B. Follow Spark's video by assigning certain devices to certain MIDI channels (1 through 16) at the top of the Reason Rack.

3. Now after you have played around and recorded what you like in the MPC sequencer using the sounds from Reason or what have you. You must sync Cubase to the MPC.

4. From the Transport menu----> sync set up-----> sync MIDI TimeCode (25 frames per second)
4A. Make sure the tempo in CUBASE and the MPC are the same and make sure that the MIDI TIMECODE from the MIDI OUT of the MPC is set to 25fps just like CUBASE. Also make sure MIDI Sync Enable on the Reason transport bar is check and lit up.
4B. Open up a new midi track in CUBASE and make the output of the MIDI go to a certain device, whichever you want to record. Do this with as many instruments you have in Reason as you want.
4C. Record Enable all these MIDI tracks and hit the RECORD button in CUBASE.
4D. When your ready, hit PLAY START on the MPC and it will start to record the MIDI right into CUBASE.

5. Now all you have to do when ur all happy is mixdown and viola, you have just done it. Everything in perfect tempo, in perfect sync, making use of the MPC's nice sequencer and REASON's nice sounds.
