auditioning samples from the hard drive

can any of the mpcs audition samples from the hard drive while a sequence is playing before loading them to a pad?

more specificly..
can you have a sequence rolling and scroll through samples on your hardrive/flash card, hearing each of them as you look for somthing else to drop in to a pad and add to the beat?

or do you need to load a sound up and assign it to a pad before you can even hear if it works with the beat your playing?

or (lordy forbid) do you need to stop the sequence, then load a sample to a pad, then play the sequence to only then find, that the sample youve just loaded doesnt flow?

i wish the mv wasnt such a gluttonous monster of a box
and i wish ever moreso that the mpc supported a modern amout of ram and the corners of the pads didnt fold in and you could do simple things vital to creating a song, like listen to the samples you want to use in context of the song your working on, this is very unfortunate, i will probly get a 2500 anyway though, whatever whathell?

how has the mpc even endured much less been such a cultural icon in the production world?

is there a workflow trick or workaround im unaware of in terms of finding loops and samples that work well together?

ive been putting in at least a hour of reading in these forums a night and all the research i can for the past 5-6 months and saving a couple hundred outta every paycheck for a mpc1000, then apon hearing of fifty or sixty too many users problems with the shoite pads, decided to keep saving for a 2500...and this issue just never even occured to me..of course it will let you listen to samples in context with the sequence youve made....of course it would...how could it not..

im not sure what im expecting by posting this other than offending people who would probly be very helpfull in finding ways around this issue if i were not complaining and point out negatives about the MPC
sorry, i would be really psyched to hear some good in this all though, there must be a classic means of working without having to stop your machine to dead silence and fart around then come back with a sound that makes your sequence sound silly all of the sudden, then hafta stop..back to silence, more farting, then another sample to try, then play, then ohh wait ...hmm almost...stop song...poot poot, play oh...ok there it is..oh wait what the hell was i doing??

this is strikingly similar to the problem of working with software

Calm down a bit, it's not that bad. Obviously that's not one of the features that people consider essential to making music. There are far more serious features missing on the 2500 that people worry about.

To do what you want to do, you will have to load the samples in question into memory, and audition them for example in Trim Mode while the sequence is playing. And don't worry about memory either, the 128MB of the 2500 are more than enough for that.

the 4k can audition samples from hd without havin to load em into ram.
only problem: it doesnt do it while the sequence is running.

Yes...the 2500 and 1000 can do the same. The point is exactly that they cant do it while the sequence is running.
