hey what is the learning curve for the mpc 1000...meaning on average how long does it take to master or at least learn how to make a good beat on the mpc 1000?

Honestly, the answer to this question is based on the amount of time you can spend dedicatedly to following the MPC1000 Tutorial... I highly recommend getting it from www.mpc-samples.com.

but in the store I was able to bang out a simple beat, I mean real simple in about 1/2 hour.

To make some seriously good music, I can't answer since I am not there yet...

Maybe someone else can answer that question.

The MPCs are all pretty easy to learn.

"Making a good beat" however is a whole other thing, and has only little to do with the machine you use. You better understand that before you get disappointed that your beats dont come out banging at once, and you think it's because of the machine you use.

Speaking about the 1000

If you've used different types of sequencers before its a doddle (well thats how i found it) 45 mins of reading the manual with mpc sat in front of me and it was like taking a walk in the park simplistic.

Sampling again if you've used samplers before its quite an easy change over.

Layout and workflow incredible (for me atleast)

Only thing i have thats easier is my nord, a pure does what it says on the can synth
