i'm gonna post a better descripton OF " hoW it " and " the way it was doNe " with additional PicS of what i Did,so far i LIke the way it LooKS and it iS simpLE and it snaps right IN plaCe not neediNG any glUe or anything, it uses tHe 4 scrEWs that are lefted on THE pad PLatter after you remove all pads, sensors and claMPs,so therefore all YOu have to Do is SNap it in PLAce..

bUT thiS is hOW far I hAve gottEN As oF nOW,i'm still waitinG foR addiTIOnal material to arrIVel to COmplete And tesT the functionalitY,but then aGain i'm noT suRE iF it Was just THe sensoRS anyMOre becuase as MANy will BE able to sEe,all thE oriGInal carBon squarES are in PLAce except for one which i took off myselF, so i MighT neED a whOLE nEw set OF sensorS (AntoNYm HurRy) or evEN woRSe a WHole NEw MPC...Yikes.."

updatES shall FOlloW.

maslonious wrote:Thanx xman911. you're post was very helpful. What do I do if the carbon paper is damaged underneath my pads?

If it's damaged, I'd suggest go back to page 1 of this post, it tells you there to glue the pieces to a piece of paper and go from there. I have went into a voluntary comma and I couldn't reply sooner. I'm sure you got it figured out by now.

if you're referring to the recollective forums, i don't know. you'll need to ask him personally.

Just to let you know that Nym is going to move all the pad stuff to his own web site very soon, so he'll be handling everything over there rather than within MPC-Forums itself. In the meantime, feel free to PM him if you have questions about his product.

anybody have a link to nym's site? mpc-TUTOR?

btw rocism i have the same problem, (before my mpc started short circuiting) i had the pad problemo and when i took off pad 1 i noticied the previous owner jus put a piece of paper in there, made no sense to me so i took them all out and found all carbons intact with no papers, (i guess he treid and couldnt figure it out), the carbons are not even slightley torn. so let mem know what you did PLEASEEEEEE

OK here we gO..

it all started when i bought a used MPC on ebay, and when i got it i founD ouT to mY surprisE that only3 pads (MAYBE) were functioning..

..NOW THEY ALL FUNCTION..

and this is a small guide on how i got my pads to do so,although this way may be cheaper ,i stronglY recommEnd goiNg wiTH " ANTOnyM PAD soLUtioN " i bit more pricey but worTH every Penny In the long run...in both functionality and durablity.

so here s how i fixed my MPC 1000

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) first thing i did was Buy plastic ( actually i used one of my old plastic binders to cut a grid for the backing of The new sensor bank), vinyl, flexible graphiTe, and latex rubbEr.i also cut gridS for the sensoRs and flexible graphitE out of the vinyL..

2) then i started to take apart the entire OriGinal PAd assEmbly..

Image

3) then with only just the plain sensors i put tape underneath theM theN place them abck upoN the MEtal platter on which they originally sat upoN..

Image

4) now i placed one of the grids over the sensors, this is the beginning procesS to making a " one whole pad sensor bank " like on all the other mpc's.

Image

5) next i disconnected the sEnsors from the metal platteR faced thEm dowN face firsT on THe tabLE on whICh i was workINg and began To install iN the back of the sensors the grid that i cut form my old binder that was made out of plastic.

Image

Image

Image

Image

6) now we have th finisHEd resulT...a single pad baNk ( THE WAY AKAI SHOULD OF DONE IT THE FIRST TIME)

Image

Image

7) now lets attach it to the metal platter, now for this there is no glue or screws needed, actually when you remove the sensors from the metal platter there is going to be 4 screws that are going to be still present..leave thEm alONe becuase we are going to use those as locking screws which will be locking the sensor bank in place, but first mark the spots where those 4 screws are goINg be behind the plastic thats behind the Sensor griD and make 4 small holes,so put the connectors thru all the proper holes(be very carefuL,or else yoUR goiNG to PUll the wiREs off of the sensors and then YOu'll need to PUll ouT the soldering iroN),ok now
your connectors and wires are through the grid in the back of the sensors,so now what you must do is push gently down on the area where the 4 screws are, whats going to happen is the screws are going to push through The plastic ,and you'll know when your successful at this when your pad bank is resting flat on the platteR secure and unable to move like so.

Image

Image

Image

8) now..we should have at this point cut 2 more grids out of the vinyl,i didn't document this entire process but i'll try to describe it my best,so before we use the grids we going to cut 16 pad size pieces out of the flexible graphite, after this is done we are going to peel the vinyl and expose thE adhesive part of the vinyl and place the flexible graphite evenly over the grid holes so that they are centered, and then after that we are going to place the other piece of vinyl, its almost like we're making a sandwich -> VINYL->GRAPHITE->VINYL, like so it shoulD look..

Image

9) now we're going to make a entire one-piece assenmbly of pads, this is where the rubber latex comes in i used ( THERA-BANDS) ,so i cut my desired length and placed pads in the MPC covering face down backside up then placed silicone glue on the edges of the padS and then placed thE ruBber latex and waited for it to drY,after it dries take the pads out of the covering and " WALLA" you should have a single pad sheet, some pads might be loose so just apply some more silicone glue to any loose areas and wait to dry,the glue is easily obtainabLE at any hardwaRE stORE and is COmpletely flexiBlE..here is what mY desiGN looKS like...

Image

Image

and here's our 3 components

1) sensor bank

2) flexible graphite grid

3) pad sheet

Image

Image

Image

10) now install the sensor bank, it should loOK liKe so.

Image

Image

11) now in order to install the other 2 components what you must do is apply some more silicone glue to the edges and along the lines of the grid( not on the graphite itself but along the grid lines.

Image

in this picture the graphite grid is glued onto the pad sheet, now place the pad sheet/graphite grid on top of sensor bank and put on the cover and your ready gO...

wow, nice going man! very good work, this will help some people who don't necessarily have the money but need a solution. looks pretty hands on, and very familiar to a version i had a while back. my issue was double triggering, like ghost notes - do you find that happening to you?

if you don't mind, can i download these pictures and put em up on my website as more reference for people who want to truly DIthemselves?

the only beef i'd have with what you've posted here is the potential for future issues, but i wouldn't see that happening in a decently long time. i'd also still kind of dislike the pads themselves, but that's not your issue in the least, just cuz i'm already reaaaally fond of having pads that have more give to em.

good work again!

As far as DEsiGn wiSe what I basicallY did siNCe i didN't havE aNy Pictures to Go bY waS try And maKE the MPC 1000 aS much LIke the OLder MOdels as POssiBle thereFore THE oNly thING that WOuld neeD replaCIng wouLD be the GRAPHITE GRID.

na Ant i didn't have any GHost NoteS..buT with this desiGn pad sensitivity is limited towards the centeR of the pads and doesn't expand towards The cornerS ,but froM 13 non-working padS to 16 WORKING PADS this is greaT..

i'm not suRE what YOu mean ANt by " is the potential for future issues " ???

yes you couLD download thoSe pICs ANt..but only oN one condition... you must post anD let KNow who Did THE worK and whoSe pICtures they are,if you do that Then using them for your site would be fine wiTh mE..

yOU have my Number anD email, HIt mE Up wiTH anY questIOns anYTime ..
