hooking up a cd player to the mpc 4000

i would appreciate anyone who can help me with this one so in the manual it says that you shouldn't hook up anything besides a turntable to the rca jacks so i was wondering if anyone out there has tried hooking up a cd player to the rca jacks..... if this is not possible is there a way i can sample by hooking up a cd player to my mackie dfx 12 and how i would go about doing that...so if none of this works what a good cd player i can hook up to the 1/4 jacks..... please help me out all mighty mpc experts peace

Connect the outputs of your cd player into you mixer. Then send that channel that you've connected to into the sampling inputs of you 4000.

yo i appreciate you man on trying to help me out but i tried what you said but my audio from my cd wont play when i connect my headphones to it or out my monitors which are connected to my mixer i also have the y splitter rca jack and through that i can barley hear some type of audio so if u can help on how i can get this [problem solved just please let me know peace

are you talking about the rca rec in jacks where your only supposed to connect turntables or the quarter inch ones cause i tried using a rca from my cd player to my mackie dfx 12 then rca with the y quarter inch cable going into one of the rec in jacks and it didn't work there was no audio playing from my cd player in the mixer or the mpc4000 but thanks for your help um almost there i think um just missing a step cause i do have to hit the break switch on the macki which it says to do in the manual so please if you know what i can do please help me out experts

no, they are trying to tell you to come out of the back of your mixer in to the 1/4" rec inputs of your mpc 4000.

do you have your mpc 4000 record enabled?
