I know you can have more than one drum program in memory at a time, I have already done that, however I was wondering how I'd be able to turn my MPC into basically my own Synth workstation...having at least 10-15 of my own sampled sounds to spread accross the keyboard and play them all in one sequence. I'm pretty sure this is not possible but I figured I would check. Thanks.
You can use program changes if you have an empty slot.
For example if you use DRUM 1 for drums, Drum 2 for Bass, Drum 3 for loops, Drum 4 for melody you can swap out the program for another if one of the slots is not playing.
Say you got to a point in a song where the melody line in Drum Slot 4 isn't playing you can insert a program change to change Drum 4 to some other sound and then back to the melody again when your finished.
The MPC only allows 4
simultaneous programs to be used. It's 4 part multitimbral.
It is possible to do what you want with 12-15 samples you just have to think about the layout of your programs and song before you start.
Also as a "melodic" sampler the MPC is quite limited and its main focus as a sampler veers towards short one-shot samples or loops. The envelopes, for example are very basic attack decay type. Not ideal for more expressive sounds. It still is a great machine though.
