do the pads wear out easily?

am thinking of buying a mpc 1000...but have noticed the quite extensive post about replacing the pads ?! are the pads on this unit different to other mpcs and wear out quickly?

yeah, the pads are poorly designed and may fail by the time your warranty is up.

do a search for more info. you'll find all the details of a flawed design and the pad fix as well (there's a sticky topic up here, and nym has a better alternative).

check all that out. but i gotta lock this thread, since the question comes up all the time.

ps- it's definitely worth buying the 1000, the jj os and nym's pad solution.

well the two sticky posts above yours titled "PROPOSAL FOR AN IMPROVED PAD DESIGN (AKAI PLEASE TAKE NOTES)" and "FIX YOUR DEAD PADS - PICS & INSTRUCTIONS INSIDE" should be indication enough.
