chopping samples

Maybe I'm just so used to the XL when it comes to this. Auto chopping is cool I guess, but I liked telling the MPC how many chops I wanted and simply adjusting the areas. There's way too much to go through on the 2500. I've tried to get used to this and I find it easier to simple sample what I need and edit. Moving the cursor to different areas to change the start and end points, dividing/combining converting to sliced or patched and then setting the release?? Come on.. this is just way too much to go through. Has anyone gotten used to this over the older MPC's or am I the only one that thinks there's way too much going on just to simply chop a sample?

hmm, what's you problem exactly? Are you saying that you want to be able to say how many equal slices a sample is chopped into? Because there's no problem doing that, open the sample in trim mode, press Chop, then press Slice and use the data wheel to select how many slices you want...job done

I used to deal with the 2000xl as well and I have no problem at all, I love the chopshop in JJ, for me is fast and usually I dont know how many slices I want when I start, I try chop by chop....

That's what I'm talking about! Great advice! That made all the difference in the world right there! I wonder why JJ disabled the q-link's to adjust the start/end points tho? Thanks X2k!

the Q-links are only disabled once you chop a sample. i guess it's cause they aren't so sensitive and adjusting fine areas woud be hard! imop.

yea, but once they become disabled and you still need to do adjustments in the chops, it takes forever to get them right. I still havent had any luck with the chop shop. Id rather work in the 2KXl style.

When i first got my 2500 i was going insane. i stopped using it, and i just use battery 3 in the PC for this instead, is a lot faster.

I can chop samples up in JJ OS as quick if not quicker than in Recycle, it just takes a little bit of getting used to.

how you set the start and end points faster, cause i take forever using the crappy data wheel, and typing out the numbers is even worst

any tips u wanna share would be greatly appreciated.

Apologies if Im stating the obvious but if you hold shift and then push left/right buttons you can change the ammount the jogwheel moves the markers in the wav, this really speeds up chopping!

You can also move the start and end points with the Q1 and Q2 slider... you need to hold down the after button while moving the slider though.

I wish JJ could make it so that you dont have to hold down the after button, but just press it to turn it on, trim with the Q1 and 2. Then hit the after button again to trun off. Some times my finger slips off the after button while triming with the sliders. If you just press the button to trun it on and off you only have to concentrate with slider and the pad! and not also holding down the after button!
