Running on Batteries

I just put 6 brand new duracells into my 500, hooked up via USB, copied a messload of files onto it and no kidding, 5 minutes later I'm getting

***LOW
BATTERY***

Whats up with that, does USB and File I/O drain the batteries faster?

I seriously doubt that you would have drained your batteries with just those actions. Try some more. You may have duff cells. Wouldn't be the first time

lol take those batteries back to the store and get your money back.

Yeah - mine have lasted absolutely ages, backlight on and off...up to 6 hours easily now.

as a sidenote: both ikea and costco have dead cheap prices on batteries-

I run 2400mah nimh rechargables in my 500 and i go for hours without having to replace them. Target has 4 packs for 9.99 and the 15min charger with 4 batteries is 19.99. Im sure can be found cheaper somewhere else.

They were duracell.

Don't let the LOW BATTERY warning bother you until it really starts getting annoying and appears all the time. The first time I got that warning, I was still able to use the 500 for at least another hour.

Anyway, Duracells should last as long as any other battery. I think you have a technical fault somewhere. I originally bought a pack of 20 cheap no name alkalines and got more than 6 hours from them.
