yeah, you add a cd player.

you can sample cd's just like you sample records, or DVD's, or VHS movies.

you just gotta hook the player up to it. Might want to run it through an amp or a mixer.

a cd recorder would be so much cooler, then you could hook your mpc up to that and record the sound from your mp right to a cd. wouldnt that be great

I have one question. What cables do i need if i want to connect my portable CD Player to the MPC? When i looked in the Manual under "connecting External Devices" it just said connect the MPC using midi cables. Im willing to be there are more specific cables i need than that. Than it said on page 3 that i connect that the CD player is a digital output and i connect it to that it is a coaxial digital input.

Than i searched the forums and this is the closest discussion i could find. Eventually when i progress and get some extra cash Im going to progress and get an external mixer and a set of turntables but for right now i just want to know what its like going throw the motions because as of now my MPC player is collecting dust for the past 6 months because ive been too busy with school and other obligations to mess around with it.

Once again i just want to know what specific cables i would need, I was at Target in the electronic section and the cables i saw there seemed as if they were either audio or video cables, i dont know if there good for anything.

Basically IF i go to Radio shack what should ask for?

one more thing the fact that i dont have the 128 ram expansion how will that impact my sampling?

not in quality but length yeah because you wont be able to hold that much but just record parts chop it up loop it or whatever you need to do with it but i recommend you upgrade your ram i havent done that myself

Sage, the digital coaxial cables look like rca cables but they're shielded to protect against radio frequency interference. I got mine from Walmart's electronic section. They work and are about $10 cheaper than 'pro' cables. If they don't have, hit radioshack and and get the digital coax cables and PLEASE dust that machine off.

Ill go this weekend. Now that im out of school i cant wait
