installing a Dual Compact Flash (CF) to IDE Adapter

Anyone managed to succesfully install a thing like this?:

I Don't know why it doesnt work! Followed the same procedure as with my internal ZIP-drive.

LED blinks, MPC says: no floppy drive..

And you set the jumpers to make it your master device ?

Wow, it looks like a much cheaper sollution for a card reader. I wonder if it can actually work.
As far as I understand it, you just connected this adapter to a 40 pin ribbon cable and it goes to the motherboard into IDE socket, is that correct ?

I got the jumper ok I guess.

And yes if it works it will be a much cheaper solution. Plus IDE cardreaders are really hard to get.

In my opinion with zip it's a totally different thing...
Well, with card readers as the actual units to put the memory cards into it may be different as well,right?
When you connect this adapter to the ribbon cable, you may miss some 'maybe' important connections that are inside IDE card readres. I'm not into all these details about how readers are build, but that's just my thought, that for some reason they have something important inside except the place to put the card into.

What happens when you change the jumper setting ?

same here...bought the cardreader an install it...don't work...message: no floppy device

That mus be it! I remember this from way back when putting in a ZIP-drive. Had the same problems then

Only problem now: I can't find a way to change the settings, even with the manual in front of me sorry guys anyone any suggestions?

i am gettin nuts! the only option you can choose is floppy, SCSI-0 - SCSI-7 and F-ROM. Or is the "ATAPI" only visible after you connect the reader? or do we have to change jumper settings on the akai mainboard?

please help...
