The memory isnt an issue! 34 megs is more than enough!
I can buy a 3k for 1250€ and a S5000 (no options, only 136 megs) for 450€
So, if I can count.. MPC60 (750) +OS3+SCSI+memory = 1200€, S5000= 450. Makes 1650€
MPC3000 = 1250, S950 = allmost for free. Makes +-1350€
So, the MPC3000 would be cheaper, so money isnt an issue either!
Oh, and I really want those 12 bitters! So if I go for a 3k + S-5000, I will get me an s-950 to

Pro Tools' D-fi's plugs are good, but I want to use as less plugs I can, to keep the real sound of the Akai's! (at least once they are passed the Digi convertors) The MPC60 really sounds amazingly good! Very crispy and kickin' sound! The S950 has the excact same sampler engine and convertors as the MPC60.. And indeed comes with 2megs of memory.
I have to make up my mind very soon, 'cause I dont think Im gonna find me another MPC3000 and S-5000 for that price..
My main goal buying an MPC was to get away from the pc.. and work with just 1 piece of gear. So I think the 3k would be a better choice for me since it has more ram than the 60. Though I love my 60 ( workflow, stability and most of all, the convertors and the overdrive function on the back ) so its kind o hard to sell it for me.
Now I just need someone to convince me! I know of all the specs of both machines and I know what they re capable of. But need some user excperience!
