I think I had that same problem when I got my mpc. I think I formatted it and it fixed it. I don't recall exactly though, sorry. Try a different CF card to see if the card is the issue first.

i formatted it and it still didnt work. Without it in, the mpc doesnt freeze and im able to go here and there, with it in Ill try to load and itll freeze up

reinstall or try a diff operating system maybe

i had this problem when i first got mine - bought secondhand and shipped
without proper insulation and those little foamy peanut thingys - it ended
up being the ribbon running from the PCB to the CF reader.

it had just shook loose in transit and needed securing. the MP would freeze
cos it wasn't accessing the data completely or something i guess.

maybe take a look inside and see if it's anything obvious.

I get the feeling that this is the problem, I seen something at the end of my Sound Card which made me think about that. Ill open it up sometime today.
