Ok, so ive got the midi out of keybaord and midi in on mpc and vice versa. Ill set the Mpc to MIDI 1A and then go and record it.
Once its done i press PLAY on the MPC and it plays back, the exact melody with the strings. Thing is, when i go to record mode and then do MAIN OUT, when it says waiting for signal, ill press play on the MPC and the sound will play but it still says "waiting for signal", however if i press a pad on the mpc it will start recoridng.
Its as if its taking the keys and just playing the sound, not the original. If i chnage the PGM to one that i have it will play the drums in the same melody, so why wont it record the keybaord sounds ?

Because midi is not audio. Connect audio out (keyboard) to record in (mpc) and record that.

I won't tear anything-promise. What zackly are you trying to record? Record mode will record sounds from your kb if you're trying to make samples of the actual sounds. If you're trying to sequence the Triton, that's where midi kicks in. You will record midi to each mpc track and when you press play the 1k will tell the Triton which program, note, and volume to play. Stereoroid.com has a tutorial for mpc 1k/Triton waiting for you. Has hookup info and setup. See, nothing torn. Hope this helps.

the point of MIDI is allowing you to press PLAY on your MPC and have it trigger the notes of an external machine (your keyboard) like you said you've done

It transfers triggers -- data only -- no audio.
