New MPC 1000 Pads to be relased next month.

On Firday I was on the phone with Nick from VST about to order some new pads and he told me dont bother because Akai is releasing the new model of for the pads next month. He didnt give me an exact but he said the pads will be like the other MPC's and they will las for years. He also said the pads will run about 200 bucks so get to saving. LOL.

word. yesterday there was a whole 3 page thread about this but today it is mysteriously missing. what happened?

sounds like a ripoff. $200 is a lot. close to half the going used price for the whole 1k unit. for two hundred could get two new mpd16s or nyms fix and a used one.

yeah what happened to the other thread about this?

and kollin, what's an mpd16 have to do with my mpc1000? i could buy 200 99 cent burger king hamburgers also, and have a bunch of pennies left over. so what? yeah an mpd16 is 100 bux but it's also another big box that'd have to sit on my desk. i'd rather just replace the pads in my 1000 if better ones are available, whether they be from akai or nym or santa claus.

this pad replacement for the 1000 is essentially the same thing as the mpd16 and its TWICE the price.

pretty much the same 16 pads and sensors for twice the price.

thats why people bring it up......
but akai knows they got us by the balls so alot of people will buy it.

a) until the new pads come out we don't know if they're the same thing as the mpd16. maybe they're cooler? maybe they suck.

b) until the new pads come out we don't know how much they'll cost. $200 is just a rumour. it's probably going to be a few months until they come out--no sense wasting all that time bitching about it when there aren't any real facts available yet. right?

I just wanted to get this cleared up - Just couldn't understand why not....

i think they may use different ADCs. i also think JJ will recode for this eventuality, so i don't think there's anything to be worried about.

i think that was an assumption from what the new akai OS notes stated, but i don't think it's known 100% that the pads won't work under the JJ os. if akai DID do that though, they would be saving me $200 because i would DEFINITELY not buy the new replacement pads if i have to go back to the akai OS.

akai is on some BULLSH*T

no, they had to redesign the pad pcb because the connections all end up on one side, rather than under each pad as in the current configuration. also the resistance ranges for the crap pads, and the interlink FSRs are different requiring different ICs on the PCB.

so, all in all, the os change was necessary for upgraded pads.

don't worry though, because JJ can recode his os to be compatible with these new pads, it's merely a software issue.

Lol thats ridiculous, they are still selling the 1k with the same old pads and at the same time selling a fix for the pads whithout admitting the original ones are not faulty? Is that a way to do business?
