2kxl vs triton

i noticed a few people on here have some knowledge of the Korg Triton. I was wondering how similar the triton sequencer/programs are to the mpc 2kxl. is a triton as easy to learn?

ive had a 2kxl for a little while now and i found it very easy to learn. but 3 out of 4 songs ive made on the mpc have been infected with bugs. its getting **** annoying and is a huge waste of time to recreate my tracks all the time.

another thing is im starting to incorperate keys into my beats as opposed to only sampling. so a keyboard sequencer would be much better than the mpc with a midi keyboard.

i was wondering if it would be worth switching to the triton to avoid these bugs and also for the obvious extra features that the triton has.

any info or advice is much appreciated. and any other pros/cons of the switch would be useful.

I use the Triton but not for sequencing...the interface is kinda fuked when it comes to havin to switch to this page and that page to get stuff done...I prefer the mpc's sequencer but I mastered my mpc before I bought my triton so that could have somethin to do with me wanting to even learn the damn thang...I have no doubt you can make some good stuff with the tritons sequencer but the ?learning curve? and ease of use is different...its not really laid out infront of you like the mpc..my 2 cents

I use the triton and the 2000 and I have to agree with speek about the learning curve of the triton. The manual is far from user friendly. Sequencer wise the 2000 definately is tighter. I love using the two together.

I got the Triton. Had it before the MPC. I got used to the sequencer and was able to bang out decent stuff. From experience the MPC sequencer has more comfort. It is very freindly plain out right superior. But I hardly ever make a track without incorporating the two units. I love what I can do on each and would definatly miss the other If I got rid of one.

I think that the tritons sequecer is very easy to use and learn w/o the manual however, now that I bought a mpc I seem to like its sequncer better, but I could go either way. Wich one is better in my opinion, neither.

well...my biggest beef with the tritons sequencer is gettin in between the bpm's...for example, you can set it to 98 bpm's or somethin but not 98.6 bpm's which can be a real biatch if your tryin to fit a sample...

I hate that too. It's just little stuff that I don't like about it.

Triton is the bigger better machine of the 2. Not as user friendly though. Learning curve is WAY bigger but there is no doubt that triton can kill the 2kxl. but for ease of use and quick down and dirty beats, 2kxl is better.

I think the MPC sequencer is the best around very easy to use!

If you are deciding from the sequencer alone then, I think the MPC sequencer is better, but for all around use, then the Triton wins.

The Triton has keys just like a piano, so creating melodies will be much easier.
I would use the Triton for creating melodies and basslines, and use the MPC for drums and sequencing.

infected with bugs? You're probably just not saving properly.

I personally dont care for the tri./ it's ok...the mpc is a better seq though

if you want to play keys then forget the mpc and learn your triton


i use a ms2000b and a mpc 1000 plus a kurzwiel rack...


i have used the triton and as a stand alone....it's ok

Best of both worlds = MPC2000 + Triton Rack + Midi Controller Keyboard.


Besides the Triton Rack is actually more powerful, as in more waveforms and more expandability options, than the keyboard version. (although i'm not about the Studio or the Extreme)

i had a triton, the sounds are awesome, but to me the sequencer sucks!!
