Two Different Machines

Im pretty new to the MPC but I can't wait to get my hands on one. I have also looked into the MPD24 which looks cool. I don't know wether it is better for me to buy the cheaper MPD24 or go with the more expensive MPC500. Like I said Im new to these machines. It is clear to me that the MPC is more complex and better but how does the MPD24 go up against it?

the MPC is a sampler/sequencer workstation, whereas the MPD is only a midi controller that triggers notes on an external sequencer..

the MPD is more suited for software sequencers such as Reason, GURU, FL Studio etc...

with the mpd24 you need a computer and software. it is only a midi controller.

the mpc are samplers with built in sequencers. you can still use an mpc with a computer, but it can do a lot more without, where the mpd24 can do nothing without a computer.

(well technically you could use an mpd24 with an mmt-8 and rack sampler and not need a computer, but anyone that knows what an mmt-8 is, wouldn't be asking this)

I like the fact that the MPD has the knobs and sliders right on it. How does the MPC handle that
