Envelopes??? ADSR please?

Can somebody explain hopw can manipulate the ASDR settings on samples from within the 2500? , is it possible? or do I have to rely on software to do this? , any help is appreciated

well, extensive sample editing isn't quite the MPC's thing...

JJ OS takes you closer to a "real" sampler rather than just drum machine based parameters. I really like how the Q-links can control an entire program. You can easily pitch up those normal pitched hip hop drums into drums and bass. It's much quicker than changing each one individually. Also, something I've wanted on the MPC for a long time, filter sweep the entire track. Works great on bass and synth programs as well as drum tracks. Aside from using the Q-link, you can change say the amp decay of every single pad all at once too. JJ OS is definitely closer to a "real" than the current Akai OS. You can set the Qlinks to transmit MIDI CC#S too which is also something that I was fiending for. Wait, what's this thread about again?

i think they dont have s and r because it would involve some godawful automated looping for short samples. imagine tryna give a grimey vinyl-sampled snare infinite sustain, or tryna give a half second hihat and 10 second release? it just wouldnt sound right

I'm not sure what you talking about...but you can define a short loop at the end of your sample in the MPC that gets looped when you hold the Pad down, like in any other sampler. You just have to choose the right sample for that. So it would make sense to include a full ADSR envelope as well.
