Word! I don't really think I'm that brave though! The 4k will be my only piece of gear so I can devote all my concentration strictly to it. I can't wait to get it! It's a pretty damn near complete workstation. I think I'm glad i copped this insted of the ASR 10 or any other workstation out there.

personally i think the 4000 is a bunch of bells and whistles, but not in a bad way, i can understand why someone who wants to make radio-quality music to own one of these, and those whose beats are laid out in the verse/hook/verse/hook format with tons of variation...as far as raw hip hop, underground or wherever, that doesnt follow that pattern (see madlib, DOOM), then the 4000 is a waste of money in my opinion...the sp1200 is a much better machine (not because of the name, and how pete rock made it famous) but for the fact that it FORCES you to be creative (10 seconds of sample time) and for the most part you need to use your ear to hear whats going on...of course lil jon isnt going to use an sp1200, its 12 bit...

im not bashing the 4000, but less is sometimes more, id much rather freak 10 seconds of sample time and make some real raw, creative shit then lay down loops in the 4000. sure you can chop loops in the 4000 just like you can in the sp1200, but you really want to spend 2000 plus dollars just to chop loops? yeah, you have the pads, the mpc60 has pads and a better sound then the 4000 in my opinion (if you like it raw 12 bit)..a vintage piece that youd save some money on, and it also has a minute of sampling time which is more then enough for any hip hop producer

im not bashing or trying to start an argument, im just saying how i feel about it, its just an opinion...at the same time, i have money set aside for a 2000/4000 just in case those im working with dont want the 12 bit grit, i can fall back on something like that...and i can definitely see why pop/techno/drum and bass producers would love this thing (compatible with computers, 24 bit sampling, all technologically tricked out) and those that like there sound crisp and clear and radio friendly, not really understanding why raw hip hop heads are tho :?

lou from what ive heard you post on these forums you seem to like that rugged grizzly shit, the 4000 might be overkill for what your trying to do with the music

give me a fisher price turntable an sp1200 and a 4 track and ill make you some dope music, word

Actually, I like it all! I like gritty shit, smooth, gangsta, east, west, some backpacker shit. If it's hip hop and dope I like it. I want the 4000 for it's power, feat. and versatility, and to get away from my biggest addiction (PC + internet). After the reading the manual I don't see any reason why I can't make my gritty shit too!

Raw hiphop is pretty much all basement shit,(doesn't sell) and when you actually get in the real world your not going to be able to sell a track, more less get any play, the key is being versitile.....

Your either going to have to change the standard or live within it, that rugged raw shit is 89, so don't come promoting it like another self absorbed underground producer that never gets very far with his music, but wants to be some sort of elitist because he wants to bite off someone elses style....

well dude i see u dont know the power of this machine if u r gonna say things like that..to retort your comparison to the sp1200 if u want that sound set the 4k to 12bit 22khz bam sp1200 grit.. also this machine is the only piece of gear i own now.. i come from the mpc2000 classic ,s3000 and a roland keyboard..but know this machine has taken the place of all that i have my gm/gs soundset at my finger tips also i have obtained the sounds from almost all the famous hip hop machines such as the d50,m1,trinity/triton,qs80 and many many more..this machine is all any producers needs(plus sounds of coarse) i see it like this every drum machine/keyboard u ever wanted i can mimic there sounds with a wave editor and this box so 2600( i caught it for 1599.) is a nice price if u no what to do wit this box .. so if u dont really have one u will never unlock its true potential... so with that i say peace.........

who actually use loops i admit i sample vinyl but i never just loop...can all the loopers please stand up cause i dont know many of them. that amount of sample time is needed for for my synth program..since my main music is hip hop but i also produce r&b and gospel with my 4k....so but one and try it for 30 days if u take it back, youll be the first i know of and if cant get that sound u looking for out of it ..ill personally give u the settings....1

word, knew that would happen, oh well

Your either going to have to change the standard or live within it, that rugged raw **** is 89, so don't come promoting it like another self absorbed underground producer that never gets very far with his music, but wants to be some sort of elitist because he wants to bite off someone elses style....

right, I sounded elitist? you best get your eyes checked then, i said it was an opinion, and of course some kid gets upset about it...yea yea yea, elitist, right, it has nothing to do with the "89 sound", or biting styles, but just to reference go buy a madlib cd and listen for yourself, and being creative is the single reason someone gets distinguished from the hordes of other producers who get no shine, and basement shit is what i PREFER (again, another opinion)... so stop catching e-feelings, and go re-read my post again

i made it pretty clear that i UNDERSTAND why someone would want the machine..i also said why personally id rather the sp1200 because it forces you to be creative with 10 seconds of sample time...but im not surprised to see some immature response about it

as far as versatility, thats why im buying a 4000, as i said in my post, but id never give up the sp1200 for a 4000, ever

on another note aww naww judging from your posts on the board you cant be older then 13...Peace
