Chance to trade my 500 for a maxed out 2000xl

I have a chance ti make a trade, I think I have outgrown my 500, think this is a good idea?

I would stick with my MPC500, since it's newer and is under warranty.

Also, I wouldn't want to lose it's portability, USB port, compactflash slot and battery operation.

As for the MPC2000XL, SCSI is getting rare, ZIP disk tend to die on you, LCD screens lose contrast over time.

What type of screen is the 500?

Why in the hell would you want to stick with a 500 over an XL?? You guys are crazy

i agree with jacpot...i would have traded it already and have 2 xl's instead of an xl and my 500 that is basically collecting dust at the moment

hmmm.... trade a 500 for 2000xl? a better trade would be the 500 for a 1000. but anyhows, a big difference u wont like is less ram-memory on the 2000xl, so u cant load up/sample as much (wen both are maxed out, the xl goes up to 32mb while the 500 goes up to 128mb ram). also, layering pads is different on the 2000xl; on the 500 u can layer 4 sounds per pad, while on the xl u can only make a pad trigger two other pads at the same time. -makes a big difference while doing beats. the xl is definitely easier to navigate through caus of a bigger screen, so thats a big plus, big big plus. not as portable though, and i love the portable part about my 500!

wut type of memory drive does the xl have? floppy, zip disk, or mcd (multicard)? floppy disks suck, zip is great, but mcd is the best.

just figure wuts more important to u for doing beats and weigh out the pros and cons.

Ok, I'm gonna hold on to my 500. I just got a little frustrated with chopping. It's a pain in the ass to transfer back and fourth from the laptop. I wish you could operate the 500 while connected via usb.

This is how I used to do it.

Yes true, but it's a more time efficient process visually chopping. Spend less time on editing and more creating. Anyways, I have found a process that works for me. I'm gonna stick to the 500. .

This is how I used to do it.

That's how it was done for years on the asr10 and it's fine.

People are spoiled by visuals sometimes.

Understand what you are buying before you buy it and don't jump into it just because of hype.
