Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By -RiZZo- Fri Jun 22, 2007 12:25 am
i just purchased an mpc 2000 XL and i am struggling with hooking it up. i have a 2gb flash drive for memory so storing my sounds should be possible off the get go. i have the cd akai provides with purchase called "Killer Drum Loops" and right now all i am trying to do is set up my sampler to my home stereo to upload the sounds akai provided to the machine. also, i want to set myself up to be able to sample various sounds from CD's. ive had multiple frusterating phone conversations with people who lead me in all different kinds of directions and once i get this petty/simple issue resolved i should be on my way. Somebody please take the time to let me know what chords/connections are manditory to accomplish these simple steps. Thanks people...

Is your 2000xl have an MCD installed?
I take it its the answer is yes,but I don't think the MCD will read a 2gb flash card? thats what I've read,I use a 1 gb flash card.

As far as the killer drum loops and other CDs go you will need....
A> SCSI cd drive to load akai snd. files or wav. files or
like dopedee said run the line output from your home stereo which should be left and right RCA cords to left and right 1/4 inch inputs of the mpc.
If you go the SCSI cd route you can load the samples off the Akai CD instead off have to record them off the home stereo.

this is want you want...

I wouldn't recommend buying that one its too expensive, unless you want all the sample cds it comes with. Just go to the thrift store and get one that has a scsi port on the back then all thats left is to find the right cable to connect it to the mpc. Remember the 2kxl can't burn cds so don't get one that burns cds.

hope that clears things up :D
