Library Beats

Hey, newbie here! Been reading the forum for some time and thought it was about time I pulled my thumb out. I just wondered if there were other diggers interested in the Library scene. I got quite a few on vinyl and 100's ripped up .....amphonic, april, boosey, bruton, chappell, coloursound, conroy, crea, de wolfe, freesound, i.m, impress, jw, montparnasse, neuilly, parry, patchwork, peer, telemusic, themes....etc

Ever looking for the diamond in the rough.. I'm sure I ain't the only one who finds it a bit of a mine field...

I'm up for trades, swaps...etc

It'll cool to sound out like minded headz to knock together...

Yes, I realize how old this thread is, but with that said, anyone know of a site that reviews library records? If not maybe I need to start a library record blog....

I was under the impression that the Library scene is much more condensed than other genres of record collecting...meaning few people own most of the records. Is this true?

I saw an article a few years ago in Wax Poetics (i think) about a dude in Cali that owns thousands of Library records.

I personally only have a few since not many make their way up to Minnesota, but I'd love to get deeper into the scene! Keep us updated if you do start that blog risch!

I can see that, seems like most libraries were *very* limited pressings, and probably only a minimal amount remains of those. Prices are exorbitant for a lot of these, and from what I hear they can be pretty hit or miss. As in some songs could be dope, but the majority of the album is lame.

If I get enough cash to get some good ones maybe I'll post up some audio and pictures on a blog.

I am only interested in getting one piece. It is PML 4. If you got that, you know what it is, and there's no need to explain. I own well over 300 library records so it's safe to say I got a lotta killa stuff (and some sh**ty pieces too).

When it comes to library records they fall into a few categories.

1). The whole record is killa and a must have. (Themes Int. Drama Suites 1 & 2)

2). There are a few good samples and the rest is like WTF??? (KPM Big City Suite/Jingle Jangle Jingles)

3). There's a dope drum break or two and not much else. (KPM Winners)

4). The records is highly sought after, but overrated and overpriced (KPM Big Beat 1 & 2)

5). The record is a shiny flat black frisbee. (Anything late in the Sonoton or DeWolfe series)

I've dealt with them in the past. They are kool people to do bizness with, but those prices are bananas. A lot of those records can be found for WAAAAY cheaper as I have done on more than a few occasions. Just DIG, LOOK, & SEARCH!!!

many many years ago I remember going to my local library in hitchin to look for a graffiti book and a couple of jazz reference books and stumbled across a small collection of vinyl and cassettes (old days lol) amongst the set was some soundtracks, jazz & several strange records that had plain sleeves or just ltd details, KPM stamped on them and the like, curiosity got me so I took a few home.... Trust me they never got returned LOL, I then hooked up all the local libraries and permenantly borrowed atleast 100 of these records, this became my secret stash of battle records, dropped many gems on mix tape remixes back then. Kinda peeved me when you started hearing them on radio and then seeing some on dusty fingers et al but thats the way it works. But atleast for a time it was good to be ahead again.
