oh nah, i got the OS on damn near every floppy and jaz disk i have about. i was just bs'ing on some what-if, biblical shit like there was the 10 commandments of the MPC.

here's how to slice once you have your sample on the pad hit shift then trim now hit f3 zone then press press f5 edit, now it will say slice sound press f5 do it, once you have finished this process your sample is sliced down onto the 16 pads. now should have 16 pads full. hope this helps

Switch them (make the zero value 100 and the 100 value 0).

Now, go back to main screen and hit 16 levels.
make sure the sample you just edited is the one you want. Leave the default settings as velocity.

BAM! You are done!

hit all of your pads.
chop chop chop chop chop ..
if you dont like where it is chop, go to your edit screen and edit the wave.

WORKS PERFECT for me too!

That is a MPC 2k classic secret tip.
Just go to your TRIM screen and trim the sample down/up and you can hear the differences. It is a really dope trick. I love it. Less work.

That doesn't help because the 2000 doesn't have slice only the XL

for instance if i do it to a drum loop the chop points arent on am i doing something wrong?

I tried this too and got nothing but the varying velocity across the pads, but the sample always started at the beginning not different places or chops like you said

^^^ i figured it out, he meant the mono that is in the params screen, (poly, MONO, and note off) it doesnt matter what the sample was recorded in.

Damn - I'll have to try what you said tomorrow ambush - either you've got everyone fooled or it works !
