Somebody should draw a picture of a wav with various start and endpoints within that wave. then connect these with lines to various pads. Then send JJ. I look at this as a possibility to overcome the language barrier. ;) mention "chop like asr 10" or "non-destructive" somewhere in there and youll be fine... But i think this could be far too comlicated, or is there any other mpc out there which can do that?

i will try to write something up tomorrow and send it.

wav files actually already have the ability to store multiple loop points (see http://www.sonicspot.com/guide/wavefiles.html#smpl).

JJ merely needs to increase the "Num of Sample Loops" as well as the "List of Sample Loops" to account for the extra "Chop" Cue Points. Each "Chop" would be a different Cue Point ID within the List of Sample Loops. Chop "00" would be the default loop points which are referenced by any other mpc which does not have the ability to utilize the extra Cue Points.

A single field would have to be added to each Sample Layer of a pad to specify which "Chop" to reference when playing the sample.

Example Program Screen:

Pgm:Program01 Chop Levl Tune Range
1:Sample1 00 100 +00:00 0-127
2:Sample1 01 100 +00:00 0-127
3:Sample1 02 100 +00:00 0-127
4:Sample1 03 100 +00:00 0-127

Sorry, this board doesn't allow me to make the columns line up, but you can get the idea.

Finally add a field for "Chop" to the Trim screen next to the Sample name so that you could adjust the start and end points of each chop independently, and make sure that when WAV files are saved, they're saved with the extra Cue Point ID's.

Example Trim Screen:

Sample1 -L Chop:01
St:00000000 Loop:00000000 End:10000000

oh ye of little hope... i already got a response back, and guess what?

"The preparation for this changed the TRIM screen. The upper right of a screen is vacant in order that it may carry out like the screen of TRIM which you sent."

but don't get too excited yet...

the email said that thought is being put into this, but he needs to work on bugs which already exist first. he also needs to take into account OS space, compatibility with other OS's, and the MODE+PAD11 screen. also, he's concerned that people will get pissed if screens are changed or other functions are removed.

yeah, i had a feeling that the trim screen was changed for that but didn't want to jump to conclusions.

MODE+PAD11?

not trying to jump the gun, but damn it would be CRAZY if mode+pad11 allowed you to edit the CHOP number and the START/END points of each chop instead of having to jump to trim screen every time. i could already see my workflow speeding up....

adding the chop number is reasonable, but i doubt that editing the start and end points in MODE+PAD11 will be implemented. reason being that MODE+PAD11 edits the program while start and end points are saved within the WAV file. it would just be a mess trying to edit the WAV files from that screen... from a programming standpoint i mean.

but it may be helpful if you were in the chop field within MODE+PAD11 or in Program mode, you could hit open window and then a soft key to be sent to Trim mode with that sample and chop number already selected.

that'd be dope as well...

damn i can't wait for non destructive chopping to finally happen... !!
