k i bought my mpc 1000 used of some guy, and there are 2 things wrong with it, when i try to load/save to the memory cardit says "no memory card ! !" and also im trying to update the os, and when i hoook it up to the computer the card doesnt mount and the mpc freezes, i really hope the guy idint sell me a broken mpc

I had the same problem. The card reader has gone bad.

Your options are return the item or replace the defective drive.

i cant return it, cause i bought it in new york and im now in canada, how much is it to replace the card reader?

now since i saw that site, i dont know weather to get a new cf slot. or just buy a hardrive. but can i run the os through the hardrive or it can only run on cf cards

You have to have a work cf drive because that is the only weay to upgrade the OS. You shoulld put a hard drive in the mpc for sure! I got a 120 in mine. I have my record collection ripped to the HD. Nice.

im also worried about ordering a cf slot on the net and recieving it and finding out that wasnt the problem and paying 150$for nothing

did you check in the slot just to make sure theres nothing in there that doesnt belong? (Broken pin, foreign object)
