MPC 2000 Classic files on a MPC 2000 XL work?

My MPC 2000 is starting to malfuction and I want to get a MPC 2000XL. Will my old files work on the XL? I had a friend that told me it won't. I only use APS and MID to save files and I use zip disks as my storage.
