So I have a alesis QS6.1 and I want to have a bass on track one and strings on track to and so on. Is there a way to have a bunch of different sounds coming from the same keyboard? Oh I have a mpc1000 of course But im just really lost on how to do it if it is even possible. I have recorded and used one sound at a time tons of times but it would be nice if that was possible.

it depends on the hardware

if you can't, you can always record your part first as a midi sequence, then solo that track and sample it either to a program or to an audio track, then repeat for the next part

feature called "splitting"
works on most keyboards, synth etc. (you have to check your manual)
f.e: bass first octave, keys sec. octave, strings 3rd octave etc...

assign each split to an individual midichannel and sequence this with your mpc

alesis qs6.1:
"Multitimbral Mode:
QS Mix Mode™ (64 Part multitimbral across 16 MIDIchannels)"

I don't know exactly what that means, but seems pretty promising. I have the ion, which is 4-part multitimbral, and it's not hard at all to deal with 4 sounds...I'll sample basslines from it into the mpc, if I find myself running out in the synth... the ion is a little weird with the midi settings, but once you figure it out it makes sense... the qs6.1 shouldn't be too much harder...

Ok I finally got it to work. I had to read the manual online to find out how to edit each midi channel and pick a sound but its awesome. Thanks guys. If you can get this keyboard get it! Its slept on so much. Does anyone else here have it or tried it?
