Can I record live vocals straight in?

Please forgive my ingnorance?
I don't know too much about the machines yet.
I'm thinking of getting anMPCk or 2k.
I currently use FL Studio xxl on a PC but its a demo and I cant save projects.its good but I need to invest in interfaces etc to record Vocals, so before I do I wanna consider options. I feel nothing sounds as fat as the mpc .
Anyhow, I love beats and have experience with many roland beat machines. I make my own music from scratch and use accoustic guitar and Vocals. I wanna try and blend the two - My songs, built around strong digital beats along with the vox n gitrs. and all else in a composition.

So, i know I can run the beats with mpc, but will it handle everything? Is it like a digital recorder come mixer etc? Or do you have to further record your stuff for a final mix on a PC or stand alone digi recorder?

You can record into the mpc, sure. but for musical purposes, like lets say, rapping, or singing verses into it? I dont think its the greatest idea, as its not made for that. You can make your beat on the mpc. get it on your computer and get a cheap condenser mic and sing over it on say a program like, adobe audition or something

Oh I see.. Thanks for the info. That makes things clearer. I was trying to avoid the pc by using the mpc.. I think I may need to get the mpc and an 8 trak digi recorder etc. Thanks mate,

i track all my stuff out into a computer after i make a beat, but i havent put vocals on any of my stuff yet, i would definetly use a computer for that though..

Yes you can record vocals technically, but its not really what the MPC is meant for. Like the most I really do is to record like a backing track for the chorus so that the timing is perfect, but its not really a track recorder in the strictest sense.

like if you had an mpc1000 with 128 mb sampling time, you could theoretically record a whole song with vocals and all into the mpc, but I don't think you would get the effect you are wanting out of that.

Definitely if you want to record vocals get some sort of computer based DAW, track recorder or something similar.
