Sampling from retail CD's (albums)

What's up?

I'm an absolute beginner with MPC's, and I've googled this question until my fingers bled, but found nothing constructive.

I've seen a lot written about dropping samples into the MPC through USB, sampling sounds from vinyl and sample CD's, but what I wanted to know is... how easy is it to sample from albums on CD?

For instance, say I wanted to snatch up a guitar riff from an Al Green album... is that easily done with an MPC1000?

Sure, it can be done on any mpc. Just as long as you don't intend to use it for commercial reasons (you know, copyright infringments & etc.), you should be just fine.
