So I'm definitely purchasing an mpc soon. either the 500 new or 2000xl used, havnt decided that yet but what I want to know is if I have everything else that I would need...So right now i have a DAW sonar HS.. I have midi usb cables with interface, I have speakers, the only thing I'm not sure if I need it or not is an amplifier..I think I do but I'm not too sure and which one (cheap cause Im broke) would you recommend?

a few other questions..

how many samples does the card hold (approx).., does the mpc come with the card?..does it come with any samples?

since theres usb..can I use a flash drive to transfer samples?

is the expanded memory really needed? cause 136 seconds of recording doesnt seem like much, and how much would the extended memory cost, would sam ash sell it?

and yes, I did try to research these answers, cause I know how annoying forum questions get but if you can answer me, kickass..thanks.

yes you need the Ram, what speakers do you have Active or passive?, the card with the MPC is only 32mb or so. so u will be better off buying a "Compact FLASH" of 1GB or more. also make sure it has a fast transfer speed. yes u can use the USB to transfer samples.

more to the Point you need to research the difference between the 2000xl and the 500 because its massive.

Do you have speakers or monitors? There is a difference between the two if you did'nt know. Plus bi-amped monitors are mostly considered "active" as opposed to the setup you're seeking which is considered "passive". If you think this part of your setup is'nt important, see how long it takes to reference a mix off of other systems.

I don't think you can use flash drives because the MPC is a USB slave and so it can only receive data but can't read drives.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong

of all honesty, I dont know what kind of speakers they are but I was planning on getting new ones anyway that would be more portable because the ones I have are huge...so I was reading the manual, and it said jacks to hook up speakers but nothing about an amplifer so thats whats confusing me, also I have a pc so maybe I could hear it through there? idk someone clear this up for me..thanks.

ok, yeah i figured that out the usb is just to hook up to computer to transfer files...
all I wanna know is that if I need an amplifier/mixer...i read the manual on pdf and it shows you can hook up headphones...then it shows mixer to speakers....but if you can hook up headphones doesnt it already have an amplifier in it?

Because your question is too simple.

If you read the manual, you'd know you could just hook it up to speakers. You need a preamp to sample from most turntables though.
