First post---New MPC 3000le owner--Question

Peace y'all. Just got this beauty the other day. Agonizing decision cause of the money. Paid 2500 for it and got a years service plan with free parts and labor as well. Been playin with it. SHit is dope for real. Real easy to use and figure out. Anyway, any of you users ever experience a hummin' noise coming from the headphone jack or know why this might happen? Also how do you compare the 60 all beefed up with the new software and scsi port to the MPC 3000le? Just wondering cause I got 15 days to make a decision in order to get my money back and perhaps put it back into a purchase for the 60. Also this 3000le is in mint condition(straight out of Wyclef's studio) and how much can I feasibly get for this if I turned around and sold it on Ebay? I've seen some for sale in the low $3000's. Do they really sell for that much? Your feedback would be much appreciated and I been valuing the knowledge y'all are dropping about these classic machines on here. Many thanks -----One----

The maxed out 60 is dope (I have one and love it) but the 3000 is the same thing plus sample time and decent filters.

I don't think you'd turn a profit selling it, just mess with it, you'll love it more everyday.

Noone knows nothin' bout' that headphone noise? thanks for the reply macao. I picked this up just to play with it and see if all the hype's for real. I've been freakin' an asr as my main sampler for a minute now but was thinkin about coupling it up with an mpc. I'd be using the MPC for my sequencing and drums. Just thought about saving some bucks and going with the 60 cause I can have the chance to bring that 3000 back for all my cash. Some i'm just experimenting here. LEt me know what y'all are thinking.

if your getting headphone noise id either get it fixed since you have a warranty or take it back while you can..

i have a 60 and i fukin love it but id rather have a 3000 obviously due to the extra sample time

I wouldn't trade my 60 for a 3000, the pads are pretty tough on the 3k. But that's cuz I'm used to the 60. if the headphone jack hums ask for some money back to get it repaired, start at 500 off.

Honestly, no one has gotten $3000 for a MPC 3000LE, if you look at completed auctions, those got no bids. 2100 seems to be the most anyone paid. Like I said, it won't be a profit making venture at that rate. Regular MPC 3000 seem to go for 1600-1800 depending on condition and options, LE's a bit more, 2100 seems somewhat fair. 2500 is definately not, especially with a Headphone issue. Take it back, get some money back or get it fixed and bill them if they agree. Get either the 3000 or the 60 with the change. Of the three, the LE is the one to get if you are starting out on MPC's but have other experience. The black just looks dope. Seriously, 26.2 seconds isn't a lot. I use rack samplers to bolster it, but it would be good to get it in the MP itself.

As for the hum, when you disconnect it from the turn table and such (all other cables disconnected except headphones) does it still hum? is this and the rest of your gear all on one outlet (if not it should be to avoid ground loops) Try different power outlets in your house and see if the hum is still there.

It can be the power in your building, but if you don't get these issues with the ASR it could be the MPC.

Thanks alot for the replies. I'm defintely gonna get it fixed and it probably needs a replacement backlight. Its not so so dim but if I can get that for free I'm gonna go ahead and do it. Really appreciate the advise. We'll see how it all plays out. I mean i got the LE but if I return it I can cop the regular 3000's for perhaps a thousand or 500 dollars cheaper. I just saw this shit in Sam Ash and copped it just to **** around with it. Put most of it on the 18 months credit card plan. Ya'll will be hearing from me again.

yeah man I feel you....Like I said, I looked at it like a good opportunity to check the 3000 out, know what I mean. I'm just having fun messing around with the shit. I most probably will bring it back but till then I'm gonna see if this piece is for me. The only positive things I see with the Sam Ash purchase..(2300 + 200 tax) is one the yearlong service plan fixing anything that goes wrong with it for free and two the payoff over a long period of time with no interest and shit. My fear is paying someone off Ebay a serious amount of NOW money for something I might have to put more money into and have headaches about in time. You know how some of those players do on Ebay, man. I mean this LE is in good condition cosmetically it has no wear and tear. The operations of the shit are on point as far as the functions go. So I'm always trying to keep wise with my purchases and investments and your input has been on point and helpful. Did you have any problems or headaches with your 60 when you copped it? Did you cop it off Ebay? I mean I'd feel alot more comfotable dealing with the owner of a piece in person. I just don't trust alot of **** out there.

Also what was funny at Sam Ash as well is that they had an s950 sittin' there for 170. I've been noticin' these going for 3, 350 even 400 on EBay. Hope someonw gobbles that shit up, I was almost tempted to.

If you can spend the cash, It would be good to keep it. Service for 1 year is a good deal, but get that backlight and hum looked at asap. Remember, they aren't making money on fixing the 3000, so they might take their sweetass time.

If you like it and it is worth it to you, keep it!

I didn't get my 60 on ebay, but I did have to replace the backlight.

How would you describe the difference in sound from 3000's-16-to the 60's-12? Curious as to what you think?

Not a much of a difference, the 3000 can sound like a SP1200 depending on what kind of samples you put into (i dont give a **** what you 2000 owners say, it happening there...lol), besides that when i had both i loaded an identical sequence/pgm on em, ran em side by side on my mixer and just noticed the 60's snares/highs sounded a bit sharper, more crackin.

yo dove, you saying you would recomend the 60 over the 3000? or vice versa. i like the price tags on the 60s way more than the 3000.

as someone who has owned pretty much every mpc out there, what would you suggest to someone who already has a 2000xl? if i get the 60, i could beef up the sample time with my s5000.

realistically, i dont really need it but i would like to have one i could take to work and leave there for some time, while i still have another jawn sitting at the crib. so: 60, 60II, 3000, 2000, 2000xl, or, 1000 (i aint even gonna touch that burly @ss 4000 not my steez)? which one would you rather have?
