Anyone modified a 2000 to allow it to connect to a monitor?

Thanks for the technical replies thereafter. I plan on contacting Forat about it.....as well as getting with one of the tech guys at my studio. I get the feeling you should be able to tap into the output that feeds the LCD and create a VGA output.

You know what could be done? I used to work in this electronic component wharehouse and I think you can buy a bigger LCD and plug it right in. how many pins is the plug of the MPC's led an Ill check for ya. I think you can get somthing like a eight inch screen. It might work holla back with the specs.

Jee Macgyver I never heard someone ask that one but why dont you use your mpc as a guinea pig for everyone and take it appart, let me know when you find out

I was just thinking about that. I'd rather have a screen like the one in the 2000 color wise, but large like the existing one in the 60.

Perhaps some sort of backlight would change that, but I think the LCD may need to be different. If someone knows the crucial specs of the LCD and any modification that may be needed to the power supply.

Maby hook it up to an over head projector?

Spoke to our tech guy this morning.....he said it would be quite the task, and not even guaranteed successful at that.

The new screen would be larger, so how would it fit, even if the electrical connections did match up?

I think you'd just need to change the backlight. I recently replaced the backlight on my s-1000. Well I recently hired someone to do it as I cant change a light bulb without shocking myself (its good to now your weaknesses). I got the backlight from bcaklights.co.uk for around 25 bucks and they offer them in all sorts of colors. I was tempted to get red but I thought it might be hard on the eyes.

I think he means that you would have the larger screen sit on top of the mpc at an angle. This may be a stupid idea, but what about those magnification devices they make for reading books?

or just do what i would do.........get a video camera for dirty cheap and have it connected to a a monitor screen while its focused at the mpc........

figure out the what type of cable that goes from the screen to the mpc. It should look like a cable used in your computer for drives. a flat cable with wire running paralel.If you drop my the spec's then you should be able to drop in a new lcd givin that the cables are the same. the screens are cheep, like around 50-70 if I remember, any way hit me back with whatever you can find out about it, or if you can find a schematic then problem solved and I will see if the warehouse has it then you could just order it over tha phone. they have techi's there to to help you when your ready to buy.

Nope I have a Fresh backlight. I wonder if it is possible to get an LCD that is lit up better white on black, or black on white. I have a white backlight but it is really a softer blue due to the green LCD it has to go through before you see it.

im not sure about you, but after a while i stopped needing the screen. Seriously, i have the mpc memorized; granted i still need the screen (no shit) but once you know where everything is, youll become less worried about the screen. I did anyways. If this has not happened to you, maybe its because i work standing up, and i also work in low lighted area so the screen is pretty visable.

I need to see BPM and bar position, timing correct, etc. I can hit buttons and know where I am without looking, but a nice screen would be dope.
