im pretty sure he uses the asr10 alot which have functions that can do some of these things. like, u can make it so 2 tracks are playing on one key at the same time. but im pretty sure you can also do theses things on mpc.

In a article with Vibe, Kanye talked about DJ NO I.D teaching him how to save sample recording time on a MPC by pitching up the record to record into the sampler. The style was born out of necessity and he and others were able to spread and incorporate this into mainstream Hip Hop. Also if you a using a chromatic keygroup or the tune function you can pitch it up and timestretch to the bpm. :D

I read an article in Remix Magazine (maybe last month's issue) where Kanye West said that he uses an Asr10 and a MPC2000. He said that his Asr10 was like his left hand. He also said that uses no computer. It's very possible to do a lot with a little especially if a little creativity is involved.
