ATTENTION ALL THE TECH PEOPLE

a pet could have knocked water onto it while you were out of the room and you wouldn't know what caused the issue, so they probably will cover it since you acted like you didn't know what happened to it.

they will know it's been water damaged if the circuitry oxidizes but other than that, they'll probably just see that something shorted out, which could also have been caused by a simple power surge.

Well power to you for you confidence. I dont know if i would have been able to do that. I dont think water damage will be covered in the warranty for starters but who knows you may get lucky.

Just a tip to anyone in generally with electronic equipment. Water acts as a conductor so anytime components get wet the potential for connections to bridge is there.

Turn off as soon as you can before this occurs just let it dry completely and chances are you would have saved your device.

It has happened to me several times before with a host of different electionic devices and they still work

He had a 2500xl. The MPC with the tilted screen.

So I spilled a water jar on my MPC 1000 (the jar fell off a shelf while I was moving a canvas) it sucks....the machine was on & it shorted out b4 I could get 2 it, I took it apart, dried it out, I cleaned off some corrosion? off one spot w/ alcohol & a brush.

I'm unsure of what parts need to b replaced? to get the mpc working again, nothing looks damaged but it doesn't turn on....is ther tests that can b done or any things to look for?, I do have a multi.reader....any help would b greatly appreciated, i may end up taking it sumwhere to get it fixed i just wantd to make an effort

It all depends on what got wet. The "corrosion" you cleaned off, if caused by the liquid, was probably an electrical arc which is not a good sign. Depending on where this was, it may be cheaper to buy a replacement MPC.

Try replacing the fuse. If that doesn't work, and you have no experience in electronics repair, take it to a professional to get a repair quote.

Make sure everything is completely dry before you change the fuse.

take a look at the fuse, it's the white cylinder near the power supply. w/ the machine unplugged, pop out the fuse and see if there is a black mark on it (might look like sharpie). if that's the case, then it's the fuse that is blown. new ones are < $1. that's a good first try.
