TRANSFER MPC2000 TO MPC1000.( os x ).translator pro and why?

So im trying to transfer mpc2000 files to an mpc1000. I an told I need translator pro, which is anywhere from $99 to $149. ive saved mpc2000 zip files on my mac's external firewire drive and dumped them back on mpc formatted zips...whats the diff?

I did not have the translator and it was a pain in the ass. Individual asigning of pads and terrible problems loading .All files. Just a general hard time. I dunno if it's worth 100 dollars for a one time transfer but...
