hahaha i must have gotten something wrong.. its only 20 on mpcstuff.. but i remember payin crazy price for shipment when i bought my first set of pads from vst back in the day.. 20 bucks is cheap.. well now its a different story. the thought of buying those pads and thats it, is very tempting.

that crazy amount of money has nothing to do with shipping.. it's the import costs that makes it expensive like crazy

Does anyone know if the MPC2500 has any pad issues or is it just that little f***er?

its just this little fuqqer.. mpc 2500 got the good pads and sensors..

I don't have any probs right now but i don't want to live like this.
Always thinking that those pads could die at any moment. That stresses me right now.

IF, your pads die then buy the "upgrade". Till then don't sweat it. Thats like constantly worrying about getting cancer just because it runs in your family. Don't let worries about the future f*ck with your present. Many will disagree but thats my take on it.

the last thing i would recommend is buying a different model, especially not a new model akai machine. and if you go older, you may be happy, but only if you haven't gotten very far into the 1000's features with the jj os. those will amost certainly be missed.

in terms of money you'll be paying it's just not worth it feature wise. the extra money is NOT worth the extra hardware you're buying.

not to mention, a flaw has been identified with the 2500 pads as well that results in ghost notes and other issues. the metal frame on which the pad sensors are attached appears to bow in. you can read about this in the 2500 forum.

Old Pads Out. (free) New Pads in ($180). Pull out the old pads. Turn each one into a Keychain, Zipper Pull, Pendant, Whatever. Sell each one for $10 on Ebay. $160. You get the new pads for $20 minus the time spent converting the old pads. OR, simply sell any of your pads that still work to MPC 1k users who are sticking with the old pads. Recycle.

(Not that I give ANY Leeway to AKAI. F*ck 'em. Just another ASS Corp. in the year of the Pig. What else is new? But instead of throwing tantrums that will change nothing, figure out how to work the problem out by taking advantage of the opportunities you do have)

i returned my black mpc which came in a blue box and old pads earlier this week. i got it back yesterday and it came in a black box, a black matte faceplate, 128mb cf and new pads.

I just ordered an used mpc1k (It's one with blue/red case) including 40GB harddisc, 1GB CF, 128 RAM and JJ OS 485. All for 750€.

After reading this thread I'm seriously worried...
Is it that crap?
