MPC 60 FAQ / MPC 60 BIBLE / Please Contribute

Does this apply the the step edit mode for my 60II? Are these the values for the duration field of a pad when "writing" the notes per pad per pattern? Thanks in advance!!

To format a DD floppy disc w/o using the MPC itself:

Type "format a: /t:80 /n:9" (w/o quotes) into the the "Run" prompt in the Start menu. You get a little less storage space on the disc, but your 60 should be able to read it.

will this be read with os 2.12? can transfer .snds/.pgms for my 60 from the pc to the formatted floppy this way? thanks

Dunno, I'm Running 3.10. You might as well give it a try. I can't think of why it wouldn't work. Probably better to ask questions in a separate thread, so if you have more questions quote this conversation and start a new thread. You will get more responses.

the screws inside of the MPC 3000 that came factory installed are easy to strip...they used Blue Loctite on the initial install for some reason so they are easily fubared...be careful!

Before replacing your backlight or pads you should go to a hardware store and get some replacement screws. They run 10 to 13 cents a piece in the US and are metric. They size I used are M3 x 6mm, you can use these on the case as well, almost everywhere in the MP3K but I had trouble using them for the back three so I used the originals for that.

If all or part of your display is blank, try tightening the metal tabs that hold the plastic cover onto the LCD screen.
When changing the foil in my 60, I made the mistake of taking the plastic cover that goes over the LCD screen off. When I reassembled it, vertical lines were missing from the middle of the display. Turns out, to display correctly, the LCD needs a certain amount of pressure on it. I tightened those tabs down a little bit, and...problem solved.
Just something to try (especially if you've been messing around in there changing the backlight).

also if you want to fix the small scratches on your MPC 3K there is cd scratch remover at Wal Mart that will help...it's like $7 and is a two piece system, you put a mild abrasive cream on it and let it dry, then take that off with another buffing liquid...I think it's a maxxeLL brand but I can't remember because I used it and then took it back haha, but then use a microfiber lens cloth because the 3K screen scratches pretty easily. your new screen will look better and be slick as ****, use this tip at your own discretion though, d-tilla will not be responsible

over tha past year i have come across some functionality wear and tear...
a Lot of tha prior posts proved very useful and i have taken care of most repairs wit no problems...
big ups and i thank you for tha help in tha past...
yet i am seekin some of your further jedi knowledge reguarding replacing my fLoppy drive.
I read thru aLL 7 pages on this subject, acquired some knowledge on compatible replacement fLoppy drive...
so i took my list to a local RE-PC and picked up four drives for a $1 a piece.
i scooped a:
TEAC FD-235HF7291
TEAC FD-235HFA291
Mitsumi D359T6
Sony MPF920-1

i plugged em aLL in and received tha same error as wit tha orignal Mitsubish drive.
i have good soldering skills and knowledge of how to read a schematic...
i am jus wondering if any one can give me some direction dealing wit Jumper settings or tha whole pin 34 deal...?
maybe break in down into some sort of stoner/layman's term for me,
sometimes i get a lil overwhelmed wit all tech talk...
any help would be much appreciated!

oh and i have a working akai s2000 unit wit a working floppy drive if that would work i would be willing to salvage....

A PC doesn't recognize anything that's MPC Foramtted.
