Peace! I don't know if this is the right spot to post this on... sorry! But I need help purchasing a sound card that'll work with my MPC1000!

I own a Dell Optiplex GX270 SFF (Small Form Factor) so I only have a limited choice of Sound Cards I can purchase! The height and length can't exceed 4.2in (H) & 6.95in (L). I called Dell customer support and the dude said this card would fit my PC. But I don't know if it's something that can connect to the MPC. Can someone peep this link and let me know if it's compatible or not! Gracias!

depends what you are lookin for, that card from dell will give the bare minimum, and i mean minimum. just a basic in and out.

u don't have much to work with having a small computer.

i use an M-audio audiophile 192, it has 2 balanced in outs, digital in out and midi, so it suits me perfectly.

my computer is a dell vostro.

also, you may want to try a usb audio interface, a good one will be expensive tho.

Peace Narkotiq! Thanks. I was lookin' at that Audiophile 192 and called M-Audio Tech support but it was too big.

I also have an iMac G4 (AGP Graphics) but I don't know if its worth hookin' up because the max capacity of Mem Ram it takes is 1.5Gb.

Do you have any suggestions or links on usb audio interface! Since it's USB anyone will be compatible with my Dell right?

Heres 2 different ones! ! is as big as a cow and the other one is slimmer! The cow cost less then the lamb!

What do u suggest if fatness didn't matter??

USB audio interface is nonsense, the transfer rate is nowhere as fast as firewire and most likely you will be expieriencing spikes and hicups. Hence the reason only handful of Audio USB interfaces is available on the market. Forget seraching for PCI card that will fit in your pc. Get a firewire interface and call it a day.

Peace Konc3pt! My Dell don't got any Firewire ports but my iMac G4 does! But I don't know if the G4 is worth hookin' up!

I dont wanna be telling you what interface to get cuz everybody got different needs and preferences. You gotta figure out if you ever plan on getting more gear. Basically comes down to, how many inputs and what type of connections you need. Tweakheadz is good resource for info and reviews. As far as not having firewire port in the dell, you can pick up a firewire PCI card for $20, they are fairly small and shouldnt have problems fitting it in.

Thanks again Konc3pt! I think I'll do that firewire PCI card buy for my Dell.

All I really need it for is to connect my MPC1000 and I'm also gunna be getting a Korg triton.

I was lookin' at these two boxes! Now I just really want to know if the quality is good! Do u mind checkin' em' out. Which would you go with if thats all you needed it for?

because you have a small form computer, every pci interface has to be low profile, a low profile firewire interface might be hard to get and expensive.

what koncept said about usb interfaces is true to some extent, but if you shell out a few extra bucks and go with a good brand like M-audio or edirol, u will never get any audio discrepencies, usb can be just as good as firewire, the difference in speed between usb and firewire is virtually undetectable most of the time.

the m-audio fast track pro is an excellent piece of gear, it's 4x4 in and out so it would work for your whole studio! and it has midi.

http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/FastTrackPro-main.html

my firiend uses it, i would have got it myself but it wasn't out when i got the pci interface, $200 isn't too bad a price, my motto is:

"your music is only as good as the money, time and dedication u put into it"

hope this helps you my friend,

p.s. excellent choice on going with the triton, that will thing will blow u away!

Thanks Narkotiq! Sh*t I found that for a good price if your interested!

http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process ... FASTTRACKP.

I think I'll just go with this. The Firewire PCI Card for my dell cost $40. So gettin' a $200 External Audio Interface & The Firewire PCI Card woulda been around the same price as that Fast Track Pro from the M-Audio site!

But thanks dudes!

Mos Deff! I really want that Korg Triton for Bass! I'm sure i'll stumble upon a million things I can use in it but thats my main "Missing Element". I currently use FL 7 to make my beats but i've been gettin' a lot of put downs on that software even tho' I know its the s*it! People tell me you won't get too much respect lettin' brothas know you use that software! So i bought myself the MPC1000! I'm gettin' used to it slowly but i've only had it for a month! I'm more into basic Underground, East Coast, Boom Boom Bap, DJ Stoupe, Insight, Premier, Hi Tek etc. type beats!

Not no Ayo Technology (Beats Crazy ill Tho') Dem Franchize Boys, Lil' John, Dipset (Beats Are Also Crazy), Soljah Boy S*it!

But heres a link to my MySpace! I have three beats on it I made with Fruity Loops 7! I think "Concrete Jungle" is the best outta the three but people seem to like "Meet Me At the Tomb"

props homeboy!

i'm feelin that concrete jungle, thats real talk bruv, is that you spittin?

i totally agree with you, ever since i got fruity loops 7 ive been totally addicted, makes a change from reason 3.0, its way quicker

lol i gotta say tho, our tastes differ lol, as far as any timbaland beat goes (including ayo technology) that boy is fiyah! and ain't playin, i been following timbo since 97 bruv, since the early missy days.

i'm still workin on my myspace to get sum beats thrown up

the beats i do range from bangin hard grit-hop to rnb infused with eighties samples.

i'll keep checkin your myspace homeboy, good lookin out.

p.s. where you reppin?

I'm from Lawrence, MA! Lol. Yea I remember when my brother bought a Timbaland & Magoo CD. It had the song "Love to love ya"! Muahahahaha! Sorry!!! It was prolly ill as s*it then but I laugh now especially cause of Magoos voice!

I'm not knockin' Timbalands production! It's just he makes POP beats and "Mad Man never go POP like snot bubbles" <<MF DOOM line!

I wanna keep it HIP-HOP not Hip-Pop you know! I Know thats where the moneys at but I'm satisfied with a nice $2-300,000 house for my family (Wife 2 Kids).

Thanks for listening and the props sun! Those tracks are pretty old! I rap on the track "Savagery" My boys Life Solar and D Menace rap on "Concrete Jungle" & My boy Just 1 raps on the track "Meet Me At The Tomb" Once I get this MPC and Triton connected I'm pretty sure beats will get crazier!

Thanks for the info also and you to Konc3pt!
