mmmm, snareroll

what would be the best way to build a snare roll? i can't really grab a good sample of one.

note repeat, quick hands, or a drumset.
u make the choice.

slow the tempo down tremendously play the roll then speed it back up.

thats what i use. . so simple yet highly effective!

same here. note repeat sounded to robotic for me, and im not fast enough to do it in real time.

yea man its a good way to lay down toms or high hats that you want all over the place but not perfect but not off beat. Holding the tap tempo makes it too perfect.

so when you guys say slow down the tempo, you mean the tempo of the acutall sequence,

say your loop plays at 80.3 bpm and you wana add a roll at the end, so you slow the tempo in the sequence down to like 60 bpm then speed it back up while the sequence plays the whole time?

You could do it that way, but personally i would make the drum roll a sample by itself, and then add the sample to the sequence that you are recording.
