mpc 2000 PGM and SNDS Mac compatible?

I've run out of zip disks so I bought myself a usb zip drive to copy and store my programs and sounds to my mac. Problem is that when I do that, certain files either don't copy properly, the file names are changed and some files are even lost in the process. When I try to reload the pgms and snds, it's all messed up as if the mpc can only read certain files with wierd extentions on them. Is there any way to safely digitally backup all my beats without the risk? (zip disks are so expensive...i'd rather reuse them than keep buying).

First Make sure you don't actually use the actual main zip disk your beats are on in case it messes up. Use a blank "transfer disk". Just copy your files to the transfer disk and load them into the mac. Also your file names have to be 8 characters or less, otherwise the mac/pc will knock the rest of the characters off and add a ~ to the end. So if you have a file called bass guitar.snd,bass guitar 2.snd, the mac will only read bass gui~.snd making both of those samples appear the same.Therefor it won't load them properly and when you go to try and load them in the mpc again,cause the mpc to load them improperly.

Awesome. I'm pretty sure that was what happened. My file names are pretty long sometimes. I'll try it and get back to you. Have you done this before and it's been fine?

Yes,I've done this method and it's worked for me. My imac wasn't loading the files at first and made the files unusable, then I shortened the file names to 8 characters and they transfered perfect.
