Why can't I update my MPC 1000 to version 2.0 or higher?

I can update the OS to any version up to 1.07. Any suggestions? Thx

I don't believe the card is formatted. Does it have to be before I can update to 2.11? And I have the blue MPC 1000....it had 1.07 built in...

I would try formatting then adding the =update. You have an older version of the MPC so I am not too sure if there is a limitation (I doubt it)....


I had a problem loading the update to mine until I tried formatting it then it worked......


I am going to throw this out there, but you should prob load the JJOS to it now, it has all the same functions and a bit more... I am new to this and find the JJOS to be just as useful as the Akai OS if not better.... I never mastered the Akai version, so I do not notice any difference, but the learning process seems to be right on par for both... I started with the free JJOS and will prob upgrade in the near future to the pay version of the JJOS...

I do not know why it is better. I never got real far learning the Akai OS, but jumped to the JJOS just off of recommendations on this site..... I do not think the free JJ version has many more options, I think it mostly eliminates alot of the Akai OS bugs.....

What steps are you taking to update... Maybe there is a step missing.

I take the BIN file I got from Akai's site, and I just drag it to the CompactFlash. Does it have to be in a specific folder? The problem occurs because the 1.06 BIN is still in there, and every time I go to update, it only finds 1.06. If I delete 1.06, it then finds 2.11, updates it, but the MPC doesn't come back on. I'm so lost man...

When you open the card you should see:

Drum&Percussion
Internal
Misc Programs
And the OS you are trying to load


If you do not see it this way, then I think you are saving the OS file to the wrong place on the card... Are you doing it through the USB cable or are you doing it with a card reader?

At least that is what I see. What you are describing has been mentioned on this site b4, but I cannot find it... I will cont to search until I find your answer.....

Fixed! I called tech support..(hehe) He said there's a bug on v2.11 that turns the contrast all the way up after it updates. That's why the screen appeared to be blank. I just had to turn the contrast down ...I feel so dumb

Thanks alot man... I'm currently researching this JJ OS...seeing if it's worth the buy. I'm about to slice my first sample...

You can always download and use JJOS 3.08 for free and see if that is what you want to use... I would def try the free one first.....


I am glad you figured it out..... I neva heard of the contrast bug, but that is a bad way to start an update don't ya think?
