Sampling (editing the start and end of a sample)

Quick question, couldnt find da answer in the forum anywhwere.

Say I record a sample from CD.
Now i want to edit the sample, clean it up by deleting the front and end of it.. how do I do that??!
I tried highlighting the area but it wouldnt have it. tried adjusting the end numbers by movin the jog wheel and decreasing the amount but it wouldnt budge!
A reply would be appreciated, or a link within the forum to a previous post.

Highlight the sections you want to delete in trim mode(both the start and the end)

Press f8(edit)

Edit:Discard[press DO IT F5]

but i figured out wot i needed to do last night.

you click on start/end of the sample in trim mode then press shift and the left cursor button to be able to highlight the parts you dont want.

then F8 comes into effect, discard etc.

now i know i can get started!!!
