hello

just bought my mpc1000 a few days ago and i'm checking out some new sounds i got on my 1Gig UltraII Scandisk card.

Everything sounds distorted. Its a used one and I think it has something to do with the settings the previous user had set. How can i erase all settings and just get back to factory settings for instance.

I am using (apparently) OS 3.07

---

also I am trying to link my macbook pro to my mpc1000.
Using a cable between them but my MBP doesn't see the MPC100 ...

what am i doing wrong?

Factory default reset: POWER ON + ERASE key.

You should probably upgrade to (at least) the latest version of the free JJ OS which is 3.08. I don't know if that has anything to do with the distortion issue. Just remember to do the reset after the upgrade. Probably wouldn't hurt to reformat the drives after since you don't know what the last guy formatted them with. Better safe than sorry.

What is there to say? Either it resets to the default settings or it doesn't.

I have noticed lately with the newer (pay) OS versions that sometimes it won't reset on the first try after the new install. If that happens, just do it again. But no, you will not get any kind of "Congratulations! You have just reset your MPC!' message on the screen or anything like that. It just resets the thing.

also make sure that your samples are in the right format. the mpc 1k can only use 16/44.1k wav files. if you have anything other than that, they will will just sound like a burst of noise.
