8 mb flash rom on 2kxl

Okay, I just received my 8 MB flash board but I can't figure out how to install it. It seems that the socket inside the 2kxl is upside down (?!). Has anybody installed one on a 2kxl? If you did, share some knowledge on this one as I can't get it my self.

Double check in the users manual where Flash ROM should be installed.
Page 203 in the .pdf version.

I know which port I should use. The problem that it won't fit inside the 2kxl unless turned upside down, which is impossible the way the sockets are mounted.

is the riser card installed on your mpc? or are you trying to mount it directly to the board?

Riser card?? It has a socket dedicated to FMC01 which is the 8MB board I have. What do you mean by that?

yea the mainboard has a dedicated socket, but there is a riser card that plugs into that and then you plug in the flash board to that. it changes the angle that the card sits. the card should line up with the mounting bracket that sticks up too.

I see. So I guess the card changes its angle from parallel to the main board to vertical. Anyway, any ideas where I can find one?

The Mutec FMC01 is made for the MPC2000 only. It will not work in a 2kxl.

Are you sure about this? Cause the 2kxl mainboard has a dedicated slot for the FMC01 specifically. The only problem in the fitting angle for which I haven't found a solution yet.

The part for the 2kxl is: FMX008M. It is half as wide as the Mutec FMC01.

I too tried to install the Mutec FMC01, it won't work.

Hmmm, you might be right on this, however I can still use it on my s3200xl or sell it. Anyone interested?

If I'm correct, the FMC-02 is the 16MB model. This one can be used only on the S-series samplers (I'm only sure about the 3200). No MPC can read that one.
